CBS Sunday Morning
By Bruce Shawkey

I've grown disgusted with CBS Sunday Morning. Been going on for about a year now. I am very tired about the direction it has taken. It used to cover human interest stories and have its reporters travel the country and the globe.
How many times do we need to talk about Broadway? Every Sunday I have an ongoing bet with myself on whether or not Broadway or a show on it will be brought up and almost every Sunday I'm sadly proven right.
Yes, you may still throw in an interesting story that is half the length of your celebrity or Broadway focused segments, but that doesn't quite make up for the fact the this show has the unshakable stink of elitism attached to it now. $1,000 tickets? Give me a break.
I guess regular people's stories, interesting reporting, and genuine creativity is no longer worth the air time. Their increase of celebrity/pop culture noise can be obtained at a million websites and channels - I mute it. What happened to the genius balance of Steve Hartman and Martha Teichner’s reporting.
And news about Trump and his shenanigans? I don't give a rip. I'll still tune in to the weekly shows, but I'll be hitting the mute button a lot.
I miss the days of Charles Kuralt and Charles Osgood. Hate to sound like a curmudgeon, but there it is.
